Searching leaving a mark on file?

Hello
I just wondered if anyone could advice as to where or not doing a mortgage search with moneysavingexpert leaves a mark on your file, which can impact getting a mortgage?
My broker told me it would, but I'm not 100%?
Thank you

Shouldn't do as they aren't a lender. They will most likely do a soft search (quotation search) to show what they think you can get but it won't impact your score in any way.
You will be able to see they did it but no one else will know0 -
Why would you need to do a mortgage search on MSE if you are using a broker? A broker will have access to exclusive deals that are not available via the MSE search function - you could lose outI am a Mortgage Adviser

MSE pulls data from mortgage brain. The version of mortgage brain I use allows me to see exclusives held with all mortgage networks as well as direct deals only.
I assume the MSE one is pulling the same data0 -
And remember, not all brokers are created equally.
Searching MSE has a lot more value in my mind than seeing a Sequence 'advisor' for instance and their 20 lenders0 -

It is a free broker, so I'm sussing out my options, as the interest rates she was giving me were higher than MSE0 -
You need to look at the whole deal not just the rates.
What are the fees? Arrangement fee, application fee, legal fees, valuation fees.
Is there any cashback?
Also, if you are buying do you want the cheapest lender who will have more requests and longer wait times or would you be happy paying a little more in exchange for quicker/easier underwriting.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. My Broker gave me that exact Blurb and I took the easier underwriter as being self employed it wouldn't be a simple case. Slightly higher interest but not by much
Happy with using my broker. Got mine on here too"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
