Employed by 2 companies?

in Cutting tax
I received a letter from HMRC regarding my tax codes changing, they listed 2 companies, one correct and one incorrect. The random company is called Ababian LTD. I cannot find any contact information on them, and have been told to request a p45 from them. I've never worked for them, though!
Apparently they have paid me, which checking my bank statements I can confirm they never have, I'm a little lost on how to sort this out. Through a ltd company check site, I can see they move business addresses like they're avoiding something, seems very fishy to me. Any ideas?

Do HMRC say how much you've been paid? Hope it's not a large amount. Commiserations.
As HMRC are asking for a P45 at least that implies this is not an ongoing situation.
If it were me... i'd be annoyed, but I'd also be on the phone to HMRC stating that i've never been employed or paid by that company. They might give some advice as to what evidence they need of that fact.
I'd also try phoning the limited company. if they are legit they should want to help sort it out, and if they are not legit, then than helps you in your discussions with HMRC.
Good luck0 -
Write to HMRC and advise them that you do not (and never have) worked for Ababian Ltd.0

Seems legit at first glance, although not that old. It could be as simple as them mis-typing an employees NI number as yours....0 -
Personally I would be reluctant to make defamatory comments about a company online without more facts. As has been said it is most likely an innocent error. I agree with trying to contact them over the phone and if you get nowhere fast there, write to HMRC. Unfortunately it could turn into HMRC delving into your affairs so you have my sympathy.0

Have they got the national insurance numbers wrong? My other half was shown as working for a company in Sussex, a county she's never ever been to, let alone worked in. Turns out somebody with the same name as her did work for the Sussex company and somehow my other half's NI number was attached to that other person. Nobody could ever explain how.
Took a call to HMRC to sort it out.0 -

Especially as when first setting up a limited company it's usual to buy one already set up 'off the shelf' and simply change the director(s) and company address, so these changes are quite normal.0
