tefal pro steam generator iron !

Due to unrelenting pressure from mrs Albalad I am thinking of buying one of those semi-professional irons , but at upwards of £100 are they worth it ?

Does anyone have any experience of these irons good or bad ?
Are they worth the extra £80 -£100 of a normal iron.
Any feedback appreciated

If you've got a Costco near you and know someone with a card, pop in and have a look. They are on special offer this week and had someone demonstrating them the other day so you could try it for yourself.

I bought a top-of-the-range Tefal a month or so back. Retail price (in Argos for example) is around £230 I think.

    I bought it off E-bay.

There's a company on there that seems to be seliing one every day with a starting price of around £80. I ended up bidding around £100 to win it, but still, a £130 saving.

The company gives full details about the irons - apparently they are customer returns and 'may' have some minor cosmetic damage.

However, the one we received looked brand new, and we couldn't find any damage at all, however slight. 'Perhaps' it had been repaired, we don't know, and can't tell. All we know, is that we have an ostensibly brand-new, top-of-the-range, Tefal steam iron for a knock down price.

As mentioned earlier, it makes ironing much easier, as steam is ALWAYS available (OUR particular iron also has a 'turbo' button for that extra bit of omph when needed for a stubborn crease).

The only surprise to me was the weight of the iron. I had imagined it to be very light, since after all, the water etc. is stored in a completely separate tank. However, the iron is probably just as heavy as any normal iron. But that's a minor issue.

And yes, I am a man who likes my gadgets! Even 'I' do more ironing these days. With 3 kids, ironing is almost a daily affair, so I do it about twice a week now for an hour a time. It's 'almost' fun.......

    Cheers,
    Don

  • They are absolutely brilliant. I also purchased mine from ebay back in february this year (reconditioned) it cost me £55. I havn't had a single problem with it.

    Highly recommended irons.

:-/ Sorry but I had one, it broke so Tefal sent me a brand new one and it's still sitting in it's box, all wrapped and sealed up - not bothered to open it. I found in the summer with all the steam generating it made it really hot. So sorry but I'm not a fan of them :-/. Just a different perspective kind of view :-X.
