ok all, i have been puzzling for the last year over this, not realising that all you experts were here. here is (just one)
of the entries from the wifes credit report :
Company name: Abbey National Bank Account
Account Type: Current
Special Instruction Indicator: Debt Assigned
Special Instruction Start Date: 08/2003
Started: 04/11/1998
Default Balance: £2,173
Overdraft Balance: Satisfied
Defaulted On: 12/10/2002
File Updated for period to: 05/10/2003
Status History: [8]
this is the only entry with this amount on it, i.e. can't see another 'active' entry from another 'agency', but why "satisfied"? and no recent update ???
have no (recent) correspondence and the wife cannot recollect having any correspondence at all.
can anyone give a definitive explanation?
UPDATE: that lovely wife of mine only recalls getting 1 nasty letter about this, around about the default date and nothing thereafter. And as i thought, the account has'nt been paid off in any way shape or form

Looks like your wife defaulted on an overdraft (thats the number 8) default will stay on file for 6 years.
Was the overdraft made into a loan or paid in full.0 -
thats what i can't understand from the 'satisfied' comment. It is highly unlikely that the overdraft was made into a loan or paid off, bless her cotton socks :-)0
