  • OK. So you’ve freed up over £700 a month on repayments for the cards you’ve paid off. That will increase to £780 once you’ve knocked the Barclaycard off next month.

Which leaves you with Sainsbury’s and Halifax. I agree to calculate the monthly payment on each to make sure they’re both paid off before the end of the interest free period. The rest can go into savings. Or better yet just repay your Dad as much as you can every month.

I’ll bet you can free up a little more from getting your spending under control as well.

I’d be aiming to pay Dad back as much as possible within the year to minimise the need to get another loan to repay him.

    Hey Antonio101,
Well done and making the decision to do something different!!

Have you heard of Dave Ramsey?? Between him and this site you can change your situation as long as you are willing to put in the hard graft!!

I would also recommend reading The Millionaire Next Door - as this may help shift your thinking about what wealth looks like!

I found these books fascinating and helped me plan a fiscal life after my marriage broke down 10 years ago and I had £90k worth of debt to repay!

    Good luck and keep posting
  • Thankyou. I have indeed and will give those books consideration. Im more dedicated that ever. Upon turning 30 I had the chance for great introspection. I no longer want to live paycheck to paycheck with the constant worry of having no financial security for me or my family. I want to start living again also (spending time with family and friends) rather than working 6/7days a week and missing all family events just to make ends meets.
