Coffee lovers crate

I spotted this in a magazine lately and thought it would make a great gift for my sister. Its a coffee bush (for the windowsill) and a bag of Cafedirect's fresh ground fairtrade coffee in a wooden crate. Its £40 from www.thegluttonousgardener.co.uk for anyone else who's interested. Where possible, I like to buy 'charity' type gifts but am wondering if I could buy something similar cheaper elsewhere and give the difference directly to a charity of my choice. Would love to hear some ideas :rudolf:

  • *cough* £40?!
remember there's also £8 delivery on top. £48 for a bag of coffee and a small plant seems a little excessive!

you might want to try popping over to the Christmas/Other Celebrations board, there's several threads on there about making your own hampers, which lots of people (inc myself) have done to great effect :)

As for the contents, poundland have 'grow your own plant' kits in at the moment which don't look tacky, I think they have a coffee one. You can get fairtrade coffee all over, supermarkets, lidl, co-op, etc so you could get several different types. Add some coffee chocolate, or flavours to add to the coffee etc.

Thanks! Didn't know about the £8 delivery and definitely would have choked on that one!! Will take a look
