So, the whole world knows to download and/or print off every payslip, expenses claim etc etc? I do not think so.

What happened to the data protection act?
I certainly TELL my colleagues every month that they should download their pay slips.

And whenever anyone leaves I TELL them to take their pay slips with them.

    I am ignored.

However data protection is one reason access isn't possible indefinitely.

  • But in fairness you were advised back in Nov 18 to ensure you had copies of your payslips .........I'm guessing you chose not to take that advice.

Coincidentally I am due to leave a role tomorrow whereby I was informed a few weeks back I will have no access to our online payslips etc after then.... I have spent today getting them sent to my private account. I would have thought this was standard to be honest

Actually, I did print off all the recent payslips. The problem has arisen because a final payment has just been payed (2.8.2019), tax and ni deducted, and I need to know the details of that settlement payment, which became due on my termination (lovely terminology!) date of 31 May 2019.

Not me. Until this thread, I hadn't even thought of it. My employer's payslip website (which appears to be a third party website rather than unique to them) started about five years ago; and the only thing I've ever downloaded/printed have been the P60s, to complete the annual CTC returns.

Haven't got round to asking yet. I wonder if it's mentioned in our 'Leaver' letter?

My ire at this situation stems from an increasing frustration with the endemic denial of responsibility and accountability in everything from commercial to public bodies. This dumps responsibility in ever larger quantities upon the individual, from HMRC, DWP, to the postal service and the “diagnostics” which is the only way anyone can know what has gone wrong with your car.

Yes, I am an ageing dinosaur, but I have both a reasonable education and IQ (if you value those things) so, if I can get caught out, I am sure I am not alone. I am also sure that if people don’t stand up and question these things Joe Public gets screwed over, to put it bluntly!

I may sound vehement, but I do thank you and appreciate all your comments.

I think it is a legal obligation that an employer gives a paper copy of p60s, but I may be wrong.

I work for a Local Authority, am currently on annual leave prior to retiring on 31 August. Like most employees I download and email pay slips and P60s to myself regularly. Before my last day I checked I had all of them before I left.

I have access to the system through remote access and have marked 30 August (as i'm on holiday om 31) in my diary and calender to get the last one. I'm expecting a P45 to be sent. I would not expect access to any council systems after then.

FWIW our 3rd party payroll provider sends paper copies of first and last payslips, and P45 on leaving. Everything else is online and up to the individual to access it.
