Look up in Yellow Pages the nearest Catholic church and ask for a quote and expected time to get it done, unfortunately unlike getting a tatoo, I doubt the Vicar would do it as the whole thing about wetting the babies head is for someone to steer it towards the church.
As the mother isnt a Catholic, only had her hair wet because her parents wanted it, and she doesnt bother following with religous stuff, why bother with the kids ? she isnt going to encourage the kid to be religous or go to church etc, so save her money and spend it on education instead. :rolleyes:0 -
The school that she wants to get into will have a Catholic church nearby. Don't bother phoning the vicar, they do drive through baptisms now, where they throw water out of the window at the baby as you pass.0

Terrible really when all she wants it for is to get into the best local school . Don't personally have that problem myself as DD1 goes to private school and DD2 will follow suit
All schools should have to same standard of education really and that fact they don't is now seen in the private schools as all the local ones in my DD1's school area are full . Thats why I spend £350 a month on fees plus £400 a month on petrol taking her there to guarantee a better education than a state school can offer .Baby Thomas born 3 months early by emergency section on 21/1/09 weighing 1lb 15ozs .

The schools aren't stupid.
If she wants to get her daughter into the school, a quickie baptism isn't enough. Has she even seen the additional application forms for Catholic schools?
Have a look at this one..
http://www.thurrock.gov.uk/education/schools/pdf/admissions_form_primary_2007.pdf
Normally, at least 3 years regular attendance at the church is needed, the vicar needs to sign the application, and regularly helping at church is encouraged..how good is she at flower arranging?
Apart from attending church every Sunday, her daughter is encouraged to go to a catholic playgroup, as well as sunday school.
Oh, and atleast one of her godparents needs to be a Catholic.0 -
She needs to check the admissions policy for the school first. We're not Catholic, but my children attend a Catholic primary school and school were happy to take them. Here I go again on my own....0

Yeah when she spoke to the school they said her daughter would be bottom of the list if she was not christened/baptized at all but if she got baptized then she would stand a good chance , practicing (sp?) or not , of getting in as they have never turned away a catholic child .Baby Thomas born 3 months early by emergency section on 21/1/09 weighing 1lb 15ozs .

Wow Becles & nat's friend...you are both really lucky then, or there are more places than children in the schools near you.
At our local Catholic school (we don't go there, but a lot of my friend's children do/are trying to get in) there is SO much competition that we are waiting for the first severe injury/death over who gets to be on the flower arranging committee and who makes teas at playgroup. You have to be on a waiting list to help out! :eek:0 -
The lady on the office said to my mate that this last school year they were very over-subscribed but they have never turned a catholic child away , so from that i can only assume that the 30 odd places available they must have only 30 odd catholic kids applying for them
Bloody hell at the waiting list just to make the tea's at playgroup !Baby Thomas born 3 months early by emergency section on 21/1/09 weighing 1lb 15ozs .
