Tips for first time buyer mortgage but been living overseas.

My husband and I will move back to the UK next July and hope to get a first-time buyer mortgage with a 50% deposit. eg. 100K deposit 100K mortgage to borrow. We will have been away for 11 years.
We kept our UK bank accounts going and we kept a Credit card that we use occasionally but pay off in full. No loans nor outstanding debt. We have paid our NIC in full and are back on the electoral roll register. Is there anything else we can do to up our chances of getting a mortgage quickly. He has secured a job already - I am starting the search for next July. So hopefully we will have 2 incomes to factor in. Any help and tips appreciated.
