If you have to start paying interest on your HTB loan then I assume you took out your HTB mortgage 5 years ago.

What was your credit card balances in 2014 and how much are they now, what did you spend the money on? Have you got expensive car(s) on PCP or HP by chance? Any way you can down value them to clear your credit card balances?

I would be seriously worried that you pull all the equity out to clear your unsecured debts only to find yourself in the same, or worse, position in 5 years time.
  • engage the services of an independent broker, just because Halifax have said no does not mean all lenders will say no :-)

I suspect misuse of the word 'remortgage' which is a regular occurrence on here.

If the OP is a Halifax mortgage holder, they are looking for additional borrowing, not a remortgage and their prospects would be much improved if they looked for a remortgage from a new lender to the one holding their current mortgage.

I see this the same as a Kingstreet, our poster should consult a Broker.
