Call Recordings (Loan Companies)
Hi guys,
I'm a bit confused on this, I've asked for some call recordings from March this year to be sent to me by a particular company.
They've come back with this;
"Dear Mr ******
Thank you for your email, unfortunately I am unable to provide you with copies of call recordings that are more than three months old as we do not retain these past this period.
Sincerely,
John

From my research it says the FCA states they should be kept for 3 years?
Can anyone clarify this before I go back to them?
Thanks

They only need to be retained for as long as needed.
Most recordings are only kept for very short periods.0 -

To me your link seems to indicate that recordings by a company involved in Financial Services should be kept for a mininum of 5yrs.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
It is in Financial Services, but not in financial trading (such as investments), which is what the 5 year rule relates to (as part of MiFid regulations).0

Would they destroy the call files then? I needed it for a complaint to prove they were lending unfairly.0 -
Yes, they should destroy the files, under data protection.0

As in I informed them over phone I was clearing a loan early due to my Father bailing me out as I was in serious debt then they offer me another loan 2 weeks later.0 -
Presumably you declined the new loan?As in I informed them over phone I was clearing a loan early due to my Father bailing me out as I was in serious debt then they offer me another loan 2 weeks later."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0
