Cant get Mortgage due to dependants

Hi,
This is the 1st time i have posted on here but i need advice for my daughter.
My Daughter is married and owned her own home for the past 4 years.
When they bought the house they had 1 dependant.
This year she gave birth to twins and the house is now not big enough.
She has seen various mortgage advisors and been advised that she can not get a mortgage as they have 3 dependants and 1 income.
My daughter was made redundant at Christmas and did not seek new employment due to complications during the pregnancy, this is the reason for 1 income.
The mortgage they are seeking is in fact only £5k more than the current mortgage, the borrowing or the credit score is not an issue it is the fact that she has 3 dependants.
Please if anyone can give any advice, i will very much appreciate it.
Thank you in advance.

Affordability is obviously going to change as her outgoings are obviously going to increase, especially with twins.

If she has tried genuine whole of market advisors and they are saying not possible.....then it's likely not possible at the moment.

Some figures would be useful.....income, current mortgage/property value and new property mortgage/value.

How much is the household income?
How much is the mortgage wanted?

There are things you can do to increase your borrowing but only within a certain ball park.

Are we saying that the size of the problem is £5,000?

Surely it's more that on their first application they had two salaries and one child, whereas now they have one salary and three children. Changes the calculations somewhat?
