What's wrong with my spectacles?

I bought some new specs for short-sight from a popular high street optician a few months ago. At the first try-on, they were obviously miles wrong so they had to go back for new lenses.

When they came back they were better but have never felt quite right. E.g. to read the PC screen it is far easier on my eyes to have the glasses held about half an inch further forward. Any idea what is wrong?

(Yes I will have to go back to the optician again, but it's a £12 train ticket each time so I'd be glad of an idea of what's wong this time.)

Thanks for any info

You need different lenses for different purposes .

I am long sighted and have varifocals with three distances- one for reading and close work, one for computer or middle distance and one for distance.

My husband has two pairs of specs- one for computer work and one for close work or reading. He prefers separate specs rather than varifocals or bifocals.

You need to tell the optician you use a computer.

Thanks, that makes sense. I agree with your husband on separate pairs rather than varifocals. I'll keep these for distance, then, and get a second pair (half-price) for PC use, etc.
