Other lenders have similar rates who aren't as strict. Do you have a house you have already found?
We have found a couple, but realistically they'd have to take "low offers" (10% off). We're holding on to find one that ticks most boxes.0 -
Be careful with applying for a mortgage with not even offering on a house, even getting DIP can affect your credit file depending who you go with.
DIPs can leave a footprint on your credit file, getting one now you will likely need to another footprint when going for full application
Why HSBC? they are strict"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Did you transfer (i.e. roll over) the debt from another card?
How much is the debt owed?0 -

The broker advised to do it based that my banking is with them. I now have a feeling that he's pretty useless.
The only reason we wanted to have one in principle was to be sure about how much they'd lend us and not get nasty surprises later in the process.0 -

mortgage calculators online can do this without affecting your credit history, there are some lenders who do DIP without affecting your file as well.
I in fact didn't get a DIP until on full application, because I had a more competent broker from here. IMO no point in getting a DIP when the product or amount may change on full application
Is your broker a free one and recommended by MSE by any chance?
Going with lenders who also you bank with does not give you any more favor than a non customer"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

No, he's not. He's someone who got recommend by my husband's workmates. He didn't understand a million things that were very straightforward and even gave contradictory advice towards the end.
I have another one lined up from Manchester, not free but highly recommended.0
