O/S Daily Friday 9 August 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Blustery wet start to the day - it's been raining from sometime during the early hours as there's laying water everywhere. Just as well I got all the washing done and line dried yesterday! Doesn't feel particularly cold though, still quite humid.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 has a cuppa in bed. I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here.

Dinner last night was HM chicken, bacon and mushroom pie, mash, carrots, HG green beans, peas and gravy, cake/ice cream for dessert. Tonight's meal will be something easy - not sure what yet, will organise when I do the food shopping this morning.

Spent sometime yesterday researching recipe books to find some different meals to have - this will continue as need to widen the scope of meals served.

Today I need to do the food shopping, then do the ironing - there's quite a stack of clothes so it would be good if I could tackle that.

Keep safe and well x

Good Morning chums ,well my DGS Ben flew the nest yesterday and DD had a slight sniffles when we left him at his new house .Nice place and close to transport and shops. My son-in-law did all the Dad things like fitting shelves and putting up the bed frame. So we are now down to three lads left at home .Two will soon be off to Uni leaving one at home :) But we will carry on regardless.

Young Mikey say he won't miss his brothers ,but I bet he will :)

Rain is forecast today, and it's going to be a bit blowy today and tomorrow . No shopping to buy as only one more week to go before my holidays. Freezer is getting a good bit of wriggle room now thank goodness so fingers crossed I will be able to defrost it before Christmas

Hope everyone has a good Friday and Happy Birthday to those celebrating and <<hugs>> for those who are struggling

Time for my morning coffee fix

Have a good day and keep warm and dry if you can

    Good morning all

Thank you for starting us off nmlc

Another night of being awake as soon as my head touched the pillow. Wish I had an off switch so I could stop all the thoughts rushing around my head.

Rained in the night, on the plus side won't have to water the garden and the water butts are full.
Managed to wash and line dry the laundry yesterday, doesn't last long but good to see the laundry basket empty.

    take care
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.
  • Grr once again you have been sparred my waffle. Again I was chucked off when I hit "post"

Like nearly everyone else we have heavy rain. DD pleased they made the decision to go down by train and then she isn't driving in it all the way down. Overnight in hotel and morning ferry over to IOW. Maybe the weather will have calmed down by then!!

For a change the Friday Tidy will be on the right day - if I can get off my arris and get moving. I still feel half doped, I must have slept deeply for a change.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies and sad. A wave to absent friends, we miss you all. TAFF I hope we have better news from you. MARIE it's just horrible feeling like that and I hope that black dog soon moves on. Thinking of you all and take care xx

Lainey, I'm glad to hear all is well with you, I hope the other missing folk are also ok.

TA, I hope your family have a good weather. We are heading up to you via sister-in-laws. I'm just waiting for Steve to get up to see if he's fit enough to travel today. I hope so because sis-in-law has asked friends to dinner tonight, we missed a dinner with her son and his family last night but hopefully will see them for lunch tomorrow.

Laura rang to say that Brian had been laid off again, not entirely unexpected because the firm has been in difficulty and not entirely unwelcome either although the timing could be better. Hopefully he will find something soon although it's bad timing with Brexit looming. They're off to Spain today with a group of friends so I hope they have a great time.

Good morning, thank you for starting us off nmlc.

Heavy rain earlier and I'm so pleased to have got all the grass cut yesterday, so are the small birds who are hunting worms now. We are meant to have thunder this afternoon.

I'm another one who managed to get the washing done and dried but as soon as I brought in the last things, wow, more washing appeared. It will have to wait, not doing any today.

I am staying in today, everything is wet and in between heavy showers, we have drizzle.

Thinking of those who are struggling and of our missing friends
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Morning all. We had heavy rain last night that woke me up. We have had some early sunshine but it is clouding up again now. Another one who got a line full of washing dried yesterday. Most satisfying.

OH has nipped down to the local pc retailer to get his tablet looked at. It is not charging properly and he has only had it about 18 months and it was expensive. Fingers crossed.

TA good luck with the Friday tidy. Nmlc hope you find some nice recipes.Marie have a hug.

Not much planned today. May nip oner to B&M to get some of their little tins of coconut milk which are just the right size for the soups I make. I have been fancying cheese pie so msy make that tonight

Well have a good day folks.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

We also had heavy rain through the night but it's dry here at the moment. I kept waking up in the night in pain with my legs and then just as I finally dropped off to sleep Lilly decided to play a video in her room that was really loud. I went in and shouted at her but she just doesn't care. I can't wait until she finds a job and has enough money to move out.

Anyway. after that grumpy start to the day I have watched Iron Man as I have never seen it. I did enjoy it although it was fairly predictable. We are going to have a movie night over the weekend so I will be looking for something else worth watching.

Phoebe has gone to work and Steve is on a half day as is usual for a Friday. Lee is busy cleaning his room so I don't know what has come over him. I am not complaining mind as he is a hoarder and his room needs a good overhaul.

I am making a pie later on for dinner with some leftover chicken and bacon. Will serve it with carrots and green beans. I hope Lee will do some baking after his cleaning marathon.

Meanmarie, I am sending you a massive cwtch as I know what it feels like to have the black dog sitting on you. Hope you have some support at home xx

Snoozer, I hope Steve feels better today as well and can make the journey xx

I am going to stay on the computer for a bit and then see what I feel like doing though I am guessing it will be a nana nap after last night. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning [just!] all! Got up early and have been to hospital for bloods and a prescription and then the doctors, and am going to treat myself to breakfast out in a bit [ haven't eaten yet] and fetch a chair I bought on ebay for my father [ although it looks like that purchase was in vain as he may well have no need of it depending on whether he perks up or not]
He's still in hospital and cannot stop either snoring or complaining when he does wake up, and although this is going to sound bad, at least my sister will have a rest this weekend from looking after him because Im obviously not there to help. I have treatment on Sunday so have to wait and see whether I get a reaction this time.
It's been a long and fraught week.
Sorry to hear that Marie. My friend gave me some advice once about that when I was experiencing it, which was put on some loud happy music and dance to it like a loon even if I didn't feel like it, and when I did bring myself to follow that advice it did work and lifted my spirits briefly anyway. Good luck tidying TA, I am not in the mood for housework although I will see about strimming the lawn if it doesn't rain. sorry to hear about steve too snoozer, hope you are also taking time for yourself [and Gers!] dumpling, hope you can keep coping with rebellious teens! Has she not got earphones? Hugs and shrugs for the missing and needy...
    Freestyle Friday!
