Yes indeed, happy thanksgiving to all our American members. I've always wondered- I know everyone eats turkey today, but what do you have at Christmas- more turkey ?
No idea who the Packers or Lions are, but they've got to be better than the England football (soccer) team :rolleyes:0 -

Thanks!
I'll be having turkey on sunday. Thanksgiving marks the time of year where we can put up the Christmas tree without guilt that we are putting it up too early. It was always tradition in my family. Can't wait!
Yes we have basically the same exact meal for Christmas too! Just an excuse really to have two wonderful turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce dinners me thinks!
Thanksgiving should be a day for everyone regardless of where they were born to take a moment and be thankful for what they have in life and have empathy for those that do not even have what you do. I for one am so grateful for this FORUM! The answers and support and pure enjoyment its given me has actually altered my path in life over the last year. Thanks everyone!:T0 -

Not sure about us celebrating Thanksgviing in Uk, remember its the day that you celebrate kicking us Imperialists out the door!
I love this idea from JenniO "Thanksgiving should be a day for everyone regardless of where they were born to take a moment and be thankful for what they have in life and have empathy for those that do not even have what you do." :T:T:T

Sorry to contradict, rosiebien, but actually, that was later, after the War of Independence. Thanksgiving was the first Harvest Festival, giving thanks for having survived one year on American soil. They ate turkey because it was a bird not found in Europe, but native to the New World, ditto cranberries, sweet potato, etc.
Independence Day is when they celebrate kicking us outAll Art is the transfiguration of the commonplace
