Inheriting Spouse Pension After Death

Hello,

I hope you can help,

I am confused since no provisions exist for those married after April 2016.

Inheriting a protected payment
You’ll inherit half of your partner’s protected payment if your marriage or civil partnership with them began before 6 April 2016 and:

their State Pension age is on or after 6 April 2016
they died on or after 6 April 2016

So what happens for those who married after April 2016 since only those marrying before April 2016 are entitled to pass on to their surviving spouses some of their state pension.

Basically does it meant that nothing exists for those marrying after April 2016?

Many thanks,

Trevor

Basically, yes. All future state pension is on an individual basis, not on spouse's.

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D
