Redundancy pay could be £6k so not too bad if I got that

And 10 weeks notice either worked or paid, and accrual of holidays while still there.
I did not mean run the business but drive the daily stuff so you can choose to hand stuff over to others or keep what work you have.
If I wanted to leave and have this unit shut down the I would try to manage the timing as best I could, good handover etc.1 -
I've had a good 10 years here and I'm sad it's come to this, I've been here since the beginning and had 3 bosses in that time (one after the other) and numerous other colleagues and great offsites in fantastic locations like India, Hong Kong, Oman, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, so it's been a good run, and I'm sad it's coming to an end!
I've been able to buy my house (obviously still have a large mortgage to pay!) and have a child, so it was good for my personal life. I've been very lucky!0 -
I've just called ACAS and they said don't resign and keep on working and wait til something happens and then call them. It's a very strange situation for me!0

Yes, that is certainly good advice.
If you do find another job, don't hand your notice in until the last possible moment allowed by your contract. If your contract doesn't specify a notice period then you only have to give one week's notice regardless of how long you have worked there.
Also keep your job hunting as quiet as possible! Once you resign you lose all rights to redundancy, so it would be really annoying to resign the day before they were going to make you redundant!1 -
I can run the admin of the office but not the money making part of the business!0

By the sound of it, it doesn't look like there's anybody else there to notice the OP going for interviews.

Indeed very odd. One thing you may want to consider is whether any of the biggest customers would be interested in you. Particularly if they're about to close the entity, leaving them high and dry.
ps. I second the horror of Gabriel. And across in the BoE, I miss Beers, if only for the name
