The cap depends upon when and which zones you travel in:

Yes but if you read post 1 it’s Paddington to Baker Street which is zone 1 and £7.0 -
For such a short journey I think I'd go for the bus as it's a direct journey. £1.50 a head each way with contactless cards and I think the child would travel free.0

I used to do the journey quite frequently on the 205 and the return journey used to take ages around Marylebone station.
The traffic lights from the back road at Marylebone onto the main road towards Paddington only let out about one vehicle every few minutes at busy times.
6 minutes by tube.
I love the buses but I don’t get them if its Time critical.0 -

Some of the children's prices being quoted here are for when the child has a zip card. If using an oyster with child added by staff, the price of a journey is half the adult price.0

Why not walk? By the time you've navigated to the Bakerloo Line, waited for the train and navigated your way back out the station, you'll probably have been able to walk there.
Depends how close to the station you're trying to get to as wellI consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0 -

I would go on the Circle (or H&C) line. Does it have to be the Bakerloo line?0
