I also have a Chinese Bamboo steamer which is good for home made DimSun & stuff.

Y'see Spike, this is where I am outright outclassed. I now need to head to Google to find out what DimSun even IS!

We have loads of gagets we wouldn't be without to be honest :o.
Coffee maker - makes 1 or 2 small coffees at any one time only. You can only use the 2 small mugs that came with it as no other mugs fit under it :rotfl:.
    Cafetiere
    Slow cooker
    Steamer (electric)
    Blender
    Hand blender
    BioSnacky sprouter
V-Slicer - very handy for home made coleslaw :D
    Hand mixer
    Soya/grain/nut/seed milk maker
    Juicer
and obviously usuals such as microwave, kettle and toaster. My partner wouldn't be without his toasty maker either. He'd rather the toaster break than his toasty maker :rotfl:.

Ok I go back on everything I have just said, after much deep thought I decided I do really need to take my own advice. So I've just ordered a very nice Kenwood FP920 processor (with blender and citrus juicer) and am as hyper as a kid at Christmas. :D :money:

The other appliances I would want again one day that were super useful before were:
    • A slow cooker (glorious if you ever come home from work tired and hungry)
    • A Kenwood chef (big heavy duty mixer which was just so good at what it did)
    • A stick blender (so much less fuss for small quantities than using the processor)

The ones I have had and just not made enough use of to justify or outright did not like were:
    • Little coffee makers (big jug ones are ok, small ones have dolls house sized cups),
    • Electric knife (scared of it),
    • Breadmaker (cost me more than bought bread),
    • George Foreman Lean Mean Grilling Machine (fairly pointless, doesn't seem to do anything healthier than the cooker grill, too much cleaning)
    • Toastie maker (too much cleaning)
    • Milkshake and smoothie maker (very disappointing, basically a really poor quality blender)
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.

Slow cooker (used several times a week)
    microwave (daily use)
    Remoska (daily use)
cafetiere, brilliant for me as I adore 'proper coffee')
kenwood mini chopper (brilliant for cheese, ect)
new kenwood eco kettle (takes seconds to boil a cuppa up ans save me a fortune)
small food mixer ( excellent for me as it holds enough for smaller portions of cake mix and my right arm isn't much good for mixing anymore)

My breadmaker I have had for over two years and its never been used (on my 'one day I must use it list')
Ice cream maker (gave it away as it was never used, too much washing up)
I got rid of lots of gadgets when I had my kitchen redone around 5 years ago and have tried not to buy any more as I don't really need them

love my stand mixer, processor and stick blender (with mini chopper attachment), also in reg use are pannini press, dreep fat fryer and ice cream maker (attachment on kenwood chef)

Not a kitchen gadget fan as I alwas seem to spend more time assembling, disassembling and cleaning than using the darned things.

That said - I have a slow cooker which I use regularly but its very easy to clean!

That's why I love my new cheapo Basics Mr S stick blender. I've had a food processor for years, could never be bothered to blend soup as it was too much hassle and too much cleaning - just ate it lumpy! With the hand blender it takes barely minutes and there's hardly any washing up involved. Smooth pureed soup, you can't beat it!

unused gadget- juice maker - only suitable if you grow your own as you need so much to make a decent size drink
coffee maker - pods are expensive ( but really nice) & I got out of the habit

frequently used - hand mixer - for soups & smooth sauces
liquidiser - used to make sauces -esp onion, garlic & ginger puree for curries
proud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl
  • I've managed to persuade my husband to buy me a Magimix for my birthday (oh my I'm a lucky wife!!)

At the price, I really hope it's not an unused kitchen gadget!

I have a Magimix which is used regularly but the spare parts are very expensive and I have only been able to get them from Magimix. (unless anyone knows another source)

Kenwood spares are more readily available.

Use my Borner mandolin and Bamix nearly every day and my Remoska twice weekly.
electric steamer gets used several times a month but it only cost £2 at a car boot sale so am still in profit
