Defaults Still Being Added
Greenelephant
I've been checking my credit file and am riddled with defaults even though my debts are more than 6 years old.
I started a DMP with PayPlan in 2011 and since then, my debts have been sold on numerous times to various DCAS.
I am still diligently paying my DMP off but have discovered that the DCAs are still adding these defaults.
I raised an enquiry on Noddle, but got a letter back saying tough, they stay.
What can I do?

the debts are more than 6 years old or the defaults were registered more than 6 years ago? They fall off 6 years from default date I believe.0

Who said 'tough...they stay' ??
Your debts might be more than 6 years old, but your defaults might not be as not all creditors will have defaulted you in a timely manner. But if your credit file clearly shows a default older than 6 years then you should register a complaint with the DCA and if that doesn't get you anywhere you can then escalate a complaint to the financial ombudsman.
Edit: as sourcrates has pointed out... the ICO is your 'go-to' not the FOS0 -
Any default on your credit file will have a date on it, six years from that date, no matter what you do, the defaults will drop off your file automatically.
The little red dots on your file every month, are just status updates showing the account defaulted.
If any defaults have been there longer than 6 years, then some sort of error has occured, and you should complain to the lender, and escalate to the ICO if nessessary, its the information commisionaires office that deals with all information issues in the UK.
Remember to check the date of default first.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
