How much of a washing machine do I have to replace when replacing PCB?

Hi, My washing machine has broken and I have been offered a repair of £150 from Hotpoint. It looks like the PCB has burnt out and needs replacing and I understand that the PCB is programmed (locked) to the washing machine when installed. I want to replace the PCB myself but am wondering what other components it is locked to as they would also need to be replaced. It seems that on eBay people are often selling used PCB and front panel as a bundle, is this all I need?

Could be, but you do wonder how they came to have a perfectly fine PCB & front panel to sell. (Well, I do.) If there's change from £30 and you can switch back the evidence, it might be worth a try.0

my gut tells me it is not locked electronically, but locked to that model via connector shapes.
If it was locked electronically, everyone purchased would have to be 'programmed' or a code entered. Doubt there are cloned washing machine on the market.
The other lock that is valid, that if the processor is gone, it could be replaced, but that may contain bespoke code that sequences washing events which will have to be reprogrammed.
If you have storage, could probably buy a second hand one of your model from ebay for £130 and have many spares0 -
I thought brand new replacement needed the EPROM programming.
Not sure if that's an issue with 2nd hand as already programmed ,assume the seller should knowEx forum ambassador

Bit of a waste of money to pay £150 for a PCB. You can buy a whole new washing machine for £199 that will last longer than the Hotpoint which will no doubt need other parts replacingpoppy100
