Adding partner to existing mortgage - temp worker

Hi all, first post.

I currently am the sole person on a Halifax mortgage which I have been paying for 14 months. At the time of getting the mortgage my partner was self employed and couldn't be added to the mortgage officially but has been paying me half of the money each month.

He has been in the same temp job for a year now which unfortunately doesn't look to be going permanent anytime soon. Has anyone here had any experience getting a person on a temp contract onto an existing mortgage?

You’ll need to do a transfer of mortgage property, the fee is around £240. If he’s been on a fixed term contract for either 1 year with 6 months remaining or for at least 2 years then he will meet criteria for his income to be used. Why didn’t you put him on the mortgage when you took it originally? You couldn’t use his income.. but it was clearly affordable with just your income, you could have had his name on but just not used his income.
