This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning all
Watching tv last night at 10.30 couldn't keep my eyes open, went to bed and I was wide awake as soon as my head touched the pillow. Didn't get to sleep until about 2 am, so many thoughts racing around, things in the past, things I cannot change.
Did manage to do a few jobs in the garden yesterday but it was very hot.
taff sorry to hear your Dad isn't too well

Good morning and thank you for starting us off silver-oldie.
I'm looking out at a lovely bright morning, just hope it stays like this as I'd like to strim and mow. I've lots to do today. I've made a list.
Yesterday was mostly taken up with work, quite a bit to do this coming week.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possibleI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone
silver-oldie - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Bright sunny start to the day, hope it stays that way as have a wash load to peg out to dry.
Dinner last night was egg and veg fried rice, prawns in black bean sauce and noodles with chow mein sauce. Lunch today will be roast pork, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, swede, carrots, peas, HG green beans, yorkshires and gravy.
Yesterday work was busier than we expected but ok. We visited the parents yesterday afternoon but mine were out when we got there, so we'll be going back this morning first thing. Had a bit of a disaster with the garage door yesterday morning as I was getting ready to go to work, door wouldn't open, I managed to get it open to get my car out but then couldn't get it shut and had to leave to go to work with it wide open as no-one around to help, phoned outlaws and they did come and managed to get it almost closed - DH mate then came later and between them they've managed to close it but it's unusable at the moment which gives us a parking issue - but I'm emailing a company shortly that supplied this door and they do repairs so - it looks like the wire is breaking so we'll see if they can supply a new wire mechanism. Could really do without it. We just seem to be paying out all the time at the moment.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks SILVER-OLDIE. I was like you last night - falling asleep on the sofa, went to bed, wide awake when my head hit the pillow. Just when I think I am coping better with my "new normal" life, wham something reminds me that I am not and I spent most of the night with thoughts whirling round my head.
There's evidence of light o/n rain but the sun is shining at the moment. Alas it's not going to last, apparently storms are on the way. My heart goes out to the folks of Whaley Bridge who are in danger of losing their homes if the dam doesn't hold.
I got my cleaning done yesterday, albeit half heartedly, plus 2 wm loads dry outside. There are odd bits to iron but not much. I only iron bare essentials these days! The windows are in need of cleaning inside so will think about that this week - but not today as I feel lacking energy.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them. TAFF I was sorry to read your dad isn't progressing well and I hope your own appointment is to say you are ok. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning, it's sunny here, hope it lasts.
SO and TA, I too was falling asleep on the sofa, then couldn't sleep when I got to bed - but I was tired after a rubbish night the night before and I'd been busy all day yesterday. It's always the same, you start thinking about stuff you can't change.
I'll food shop for the caravan today, I food shopped for home yesterday. The supermarket was busy. Really, instead of having two lists, I should just shop for them both together and sort it out at home. I'll pop into W*lkinsons as well, I need some of those slightly abrasive household sponges.
Hope everyone has a good day. Sorry to hear your Dad is not doing very well Taff.
Take care folks xx0 -
Morning All
After a beautiful, hot and sunny day yesterday it's pouring down this morning. So glad I got the grass cut, it was very hard work and I was sweating buckets! Also got the front hedge done, next door neighbour has bought a hedge trimmer, just as well as mine lasted about 5 minutes and died!
All the flowers have been dead headed and the sweet peas sorted. Someone has been cutting them (which I asked they do) but they hadn't been trained properly so were growing down again. Hopefully they will last now for another couple of weeks.
I managed to keep going until 7.30 last night then went to bed, pit stop at 1.30 then slept until 5 so not a bad night. Hopefully tonight will see then end of the jet lag.
Going to DDs today along with her partner's Mum and sister, DS1 should be joining us there then they are coming here for the week - not sure I'm ready for that!
Hugs to you -taff.
Enjoy your Sunday. Take care. XX0 -
Hello all. Haven’t posted for a long time. I do read along every day. I used to be a regular so I’ll try to post more. I love reading the daily and was sad that the number of posts had fallen. Here I am anyway.
I’m thinking very much of those who are having a challenging time. I hope things ease for you if at all possible. Sleepless nights are so hard as thoughts go round in circles.
Scarlet Ribbons- interesting that you shop separately for your caravan. We are new, very new haha, caravanners and I have shopped for home and caravan together. I’m very keen to hear any tips! We had our first trip this past week, still in Scotland and not far, couple of nights so a trial run. It was fab. So relaxing.
Bit rainy here today. Quiet day getting some jobs done. Back to work for me tomorrow but just for a week then holiday for a week. I’ve enjoyed spacing out my hols this summer.
Hope you all have as good a day as you can x0 -
Morning all.
Yesterday was so hot and sunny until about 6.30pm when the sky suddenly darkened, thunder rolled across it and the heavens opened. Now there is more rain.
I have no idea what's happening today...DM is still asleep so I'll browse a bit longer. The fridge is full so no need to do any shopping.
Good to see you posting again wmf.

Morning all
Its a nice sunny day here I have a wash on the go and will hang it out after.
Few jobs to do this morning I have to hang the washing, make up the overnight oats for two days for both of us, pack up an item that ends on ebay tonight and will sell, then I want to get in the front garden and cut back the wisteria which had gone mad and had a massive growth spurt and we are getting attacked by it when coming in through the front door.
Then we will go for a nice walk this afternoon there is a place we walk locally that we call the steps its a lovely walk through the countryside and then towards the end is almost 200 steps cut into the cliff face, its always a challenge to get to the top, I can normally do it only stopping once, one day I want to do it all in one go, I also want to see if its easier having lost some weight.
BBQ again tonight and OH got some beetroot yesterday which I cooked in the sc we had some last night which was delicious sooo tasty so will do some more for tonight, we also have pork fillet and some lamb kebabs (all low fat)
Right I had better get on with my jobs x
Taff sorry to hear your dad is not well xx
Have good days all xx0 -
I am really hacked off with MSE I am trying to log in on my tablet and despite putting in the password I am given, it keeps telling me its wrong.
I am having problems with my lap top too......although I am using it for this.
Sunny morning with quite a breeze, have bedding to iron.
Cooked tonights pork yesterday, so just the veggies and a dessert to do tonight.
