Beneficial interest - Stamp Duty ?

Hi

Good news and my offer was accepted to buy back the beneficial interest in my home.

We have agreed on £25k and a bit worried as see some mention of stamp duty on the letter received from the OR

Do I have to pay stamp duty on the house or is this for houses of a higher value

Any advice appreciated

Hi,

I have never heard of stamp duty being paid by the purchaser of a beneficial interest in insolvency. I have researched a little today but not come up with anything convincing either way.
Maybe it is because every beneficial interest purchase I have ever seen was far less than the current stamp duty threshold?? (as yours is).

I don't know the true answer to your question, but as it is mentioned in the OR's letter, you might want to ask them what it means. Beware of the stock answer "You will need to take your own legal advice on the matter"!
