O/S Daily Saturday 3 August 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Misty start to the day here, but hope it'll burn off and leave us a decent day. Yesterday was lovely - warm and sunny, got the rest of the washing - washed and line dried. Only have 1 more load - so hoping to get that washed and then line dried today.
DH watching catchup tv, DS1 still in his pit, and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge, I'm working this morning. DS2 settled and ok.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken portions, chips/jacket potato, beans and cheese. I had fishcakes and salad. Tonight we'll be having egg, veg and chicken rice with prawns in black bean sauce.
I got the ironing and other jobs I wanted to get done finished, so just normal food prep and cooking etc left to do.
This afternoon we'll visit the parents then chill.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, it looks as though we may have another lovely sunny day so I have bedding in the washing machine, nearly ready to go out.
I am working today so need to get some trousers ironed, don't have to leave until 9.30 so plenty of time.
Other than that, no plans.
Hope everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. The sun is shining here too and 2 wm loads will be getting pegged out shortly.
Seeing as I had the DGDs here all day yesterday the Friday Tidy didn't happen so that is to do today. I hate cleaning on Saturdays. And despite having a decent night's sleep I feel lethargic before I even start it. Plus as they are back again Monday why am I even bothering?!
I need to have a delve in the freezers shortly before I christen today's eats. I have stuck with my intentions of eating from the freezers as much as I can and stocks are really going down out there. Before long I expect panic mode to set in and I will start stocking up for a siege again!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all who need them. A wave to absent friends xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning All
Well, that was a rubbish nights sleep! I appear to be suffering from jet lag, was up at 2 until 5 then dozed for couple of hours. I'm going to try and stay awake all day today. The night before I was up for a couple of hours during the night then slept until 12.30!
I have some serious shopping to do today, the freezer is back on so it'll be ready. DS1 and the DGC are coming tomorrow for the week so I'd better stock up!
Well done on the weight loss RR, that's fabulous. I may have to follow your example after 5 weeks of mostly eating out.
Gers, respite would do you the world of good, I hope it's sorted out soon.
Looks like another lovely day here, hopefully I can get out in the garden, the front hedge is in a terrible state. Next door said they would do it but they would have had to borrow my hedge trimmer which is locked in the cellar!
Take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone.
A sunny Saturday ahead, I hope. I'll be heading to the shops as soon as decent and then prepare for DM's crossword friend.
Yesterday afternoon DM wanted to find a particular piece of jewellery. That meant dragging out umpteen shoe boxes full of various kinds of jewellery, ranging from really beautiful to definitely dodgy costume stuff. I was delighted to find the very first thing I bought from my wages as a 15 year old doing a part time Saturday job - a watch gold Roman numerals and a red strap. :j
That's it folks - thoughts to those struggling. Happy Saturday to all.0 -
Good morning, it's another grey start here, It's warm though, yesterday was the same.
Hope you'll soon get over your jet lag Camelot.. It's good if you can stay up all day, we usually try to, but sometimes you've just got to sleep.
I had a rubbish night myself, I'll be drooping my way through the day.
It'll be the usual day today, I must do some shopping. Like TA we have been living out of the freezer, and stocks are going down, which is no bad thing really.
That's it really folks, hope everyone has a reasonable day.
Take care folks xx0 -
Snoozer - thanks for the suggestion! Haven't looked for that programme yet as I got sidetracked by the Bundy tapes. Weirdly fascinating.
DM had me looking for another box of jewellery this morning, at least she has now found the one item she was searching for, thank goodness.
There's so much from her grandmother and mother, I have no idea what will happen to it all in the future. Another hurdle to be jumped.
Right, off to the shops and tip.0 -
Morning all
Seems like a nice day in store I have a wash load on and another to go in after, both can be hung out today OH's work clothes can go in later.
Need to clean and tidy through downstairs today and OH will do upstairs, he will then walk the dog while I go shopping I will also have a lay on the bed later and 'rest my eyes' !!
BBQ tonight I will get a few bits for a couple of days bbq and we will have one tomorrow too, we seem to be a bit addicted to sweet potato atm so we will get some of those and I also want some fresh beetroot which I love. Its also my treat night so glass of wine tonight !
Going to sit and write a menu for the week and a shopping list in a while then crack on with the cleaning.
Thanks for all the good wishes re the weight loss xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Hello all
I've been MIA for a couple of days as we have been fence panel painting. Even Dad turned up, with his own brush, to lend a hand. All done now they just have to be put in place, but we have decided to do them one at a time as I will have to clear the ground under the old ones. Next door are lovely and have 4 children ( plus sometimes a step son ) ages 7 to 18, but their gardening skills stop at mowing the lawn and they don't know what's a flower, shrub or weed . We have brambles and ivy coming over and under the old fence so I need to sort that out first. The weed killer, spade and hoe are at the ready, it's just me that has to get going now.
Today I have stripped the bed and the bedding is out on the whirly. We've also fixed a leaking pipe joint in the toilet, well Mr Fix It did and as always I was on go-fer duty :rotfl:.
This afternoon I will give the bedroom a going over and remake the bed. Tea tonight will be left over chinese take away, waste not - want not as they say.
Take care all. Hugs to anyone who is in need and still missing the MIA's
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Evening all,
Still losing posts for no apparent reason, so this will be short and sweet.
Hugs to all in need or want of one or more, and to those looking after ill loved ones.
Nothing exciting happening here, following my upset digestion last night I have been eating carefully today..,..must check the kitchen for suitable forced.
Rain threatened all day but none yet....may have to water the garden.
Long weekend here but nobody doing any travelling.
My sympathy is with the residents of Whaley Bridge.

Evening all... Too busy rushing round yesterday to post. Had ecg, have a follow up appointment but if this appointment is to tell me there's nothing wrong I'll be bloody livid because it'll be a complete waste of the doctors time.
Cat caught a rat outside the house this morning, good boy! Extra cat crack for him...which means we'd better get a trap and some bait.
Drove back the long way round today because of accidents and stalled traffic so that was fun, nice, windy winding country lanes and lots of trees...
Father has dipped again , we'll see if he can make it to the hospital Monday.
That's all for now folks, hope everyone is having a great time swinging from chandeliers and wardrobesNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
