Understanding payslip

My husband and I work for the same company and earn identical salaries. He is 63 and I am 61. Comparing our payslips I can't understand why there is a difference:

ME: ERS PEN (21.62) SWQE 28.82
HUSBAND ERS PEN (61.63) SWQE 49.30

Can anyone tell me why this is?

I suggest your ask your payroll people. ERS is employers. So its a difference in employers contribution to your pensions. QE I guess is qualifying earnings, what SWQE is I have no idea. Is it a DB or DC pension? Does your husband make a different employees pension contribution to you which results in a different employers contribution?

Has your husband been working there longer than you? If so, he may be on a different type of pension to you.

Has he opted to pay more into his pension than you have?

Aside from that your employer will be able to explain why there is a difference, or the pension handbook might?
