Tesco doughnuts, no shelf life date

in Gone off!
Bags of jam doughnuts with sugar coating from tesco in town display a date, use, sell by.
From our local tesco express, similar item is icing sugar coated and NO date on ticket.
So you have no idea how long they've been on the shelf.
