Free Money from Barclays

Hi,

First time poster, so many apologies if this is in the wrong section, but wanted to get the knowledge out there.

2 of my dd's have just been bounced by Barclays, showing as insufficient funds.
The money was in my account, so I rang Barclays annoyed.
The lady explained that they've been having problems with their systems and would refund any charges I incurred.
I pointed out that I'd wasted nearly an hour ringing round, and I wanted refunding for it.
Without hesitating she asked "how much?"

I was a bit taken back by this, so said you charge me £30 a time when things go wrong, I've had to call you twice, will have to sort out proof of charges, so I want 3*30, plus my charges.

She immediately said ok, she'll pay £138 into my account now for my troubles.

Speaking to her, everyone is having this problem, every phone call she is getting is about this, and they've been instructed to pay the customer what they ask for.

So, if you've got a failed dd with Barclays in the last few days, get on the phone and demand they recompense you properly.

I hope this is some help to people, if you need further details, you can email me on mattinaus 2003 AT yahoo DOT co DOT uk

Matt

P.S. Thanks Martin for such a helpful site

    Well done!
DS once did something similar but wasn't so quick as you - he asked for £20 and immediately regretted not asking for more when the CS lady had capitulated so readily.
