The chances of the next move in rates being a cut are pretty high, I would say 80%+. Having said that it is very rare for the rate to be changed in December due to the run up to Christmas. Since 1997 rates have only changed in December once (in 1998) during a period when the Bank were rapidly cutting rates between October 88 and Jan. 1999.

I think its very unlikely they will change at the next meeting in December, more likely is a cut in Jan/Feb/March next year.

Lomax is looking to hold and with oil at over or near a $100 a barrel I can't see how they will cut and Lomax being the number 2 on at the BOE .

But then again they could go down click for down

Huh what do I know I m just a mortgage broker, some say up some say down. You pays your money you takes your chance.
  • Think they wil stay the same. The credit crunch is likley to stop them rising any further in the short term, but rising costs such as oil will prevent a cut. As above - expect a cut in the first quarter of 2008, but only a quarter percent

    fed to cut by .25.
    BofE to follow suit.
Savers would be wise to fix now; some good attractive rates at the moment: but for how much longer?
