My DH had a Homer Simpson bucket last xmas with 4 cans of beer in it.
I saw these same buckets in Au Naturale a few weeks ago.
There was a different design too, cant remember what though!

Why not pick up a cardboard bottle carrier from your local supermarket, and cover with wrapping paper?0

I think the idea of getting a supermarket carrier and decorating it is a good one. However, if you wanted something sturdier that could be reused how about a garden trug, galvanised bucket or even a milk bottle carrier... you can get them in cheapie shops and pack them out with a bit of tissue
While have a scout round for ideas I saw this little book on Amazon which you could tuck inside:

I made a beer hamper up last year using a wooden satsuma box from our local market (I'm sure lidls have them too).
I just put in shredded card (the sort used for wrapping) and I've also used the tesco value animal bedding. Then layed the bottles of beer down nestled amongst it. Wrapped in cellophene and tied with raffia and a brown package label.0
