It is new to me. It is an advanced move, but I cannot even do an assisted one, due to knee distress. I also get minor discomfort walking up stairs, hence my concern. I am otherwise extremely fit, in cardio vascular terms anyway.0 -
I went to a physio with a bad knee that clicked a lot...turned out my knee bone had shifted out of place due to a lazy muscle that ran down the back of my leg...could be muscular and full get exercises to strengthen them up (had a back that went too and that was muscular). I went to the NHS physio and we have a walk in and wait set up at the hospital. Worth a shot...you never know0

I have had bad knee since December been doing various leg exercises recommended by physio step ups with knee raise deep squats and Bulgarian split squats where you rest one foot on chair and go down on other leg. Another exercise is throwing tennis ball against wall catching it while standing on one leg0

Can I ask did you get the knee that clicked sorted ?0 -

It certainly is extreme, and I don't think it would be suitable for someone who has had knee problems in the past.
Standard quats are more than adequate, as long as the person makes sure that the knees do not go past the front of the toes at the bottom point.0 -

Ah yes, the Bulgarian chair torture, guaranteed to elicit a full confession irrespective of guilt. Have you a Swiss ball? Face away from a wall, with the ball between you and the wall, then squat. Repeat. It’s basically an assisted squat.0 -
I do have a Swiss ball somewhere. I’ll have to rummage and find it don’t ever remember taking out of its box.0

A good link, thanks.
I have been doing about 15 minutes of stretches a day including knee exercises, and they are improving. The left knee still clicks, presumably a patella tracking issue. I may see a sports physio if that does not improve. I hadn’t realised that an imbalance in muscles can lead to joint issues, and that exercises to strengthen muscles can cure the joints. My fear was that I had permanently damaged cartilage, but that might not be the case.0
