    Hi,

When you have any form of insolvency/bankrupcy, its nearly always up to the individual to clean up there own credit file afterwards, as some companies can be very lax in this area.

As you were bankrupt, any debts you had defaulted before your bankrupcy, should be marked as per the original default date, any debts not already defaulted, but included in your bankrupcy, should have a default date no later than the date of your bankrupcy.

All should be gone 6 years after date of default, if your files say differently, complain in writing to the lender quoting bankrupcy credit file guidelines, if they refuse, or do not uphold your complaint, then the next step is the ICO.

  • I would start by writing them a letter asking them to update your credit file accordingly. Send a copy of your bankruptcy discharge cert.

You can ask Experian to help, e.g if its over 6 years and still showing you can report it as not accurate.
