New to Comping.

Hi all.

I've really got a few questions regarding comping and getting started really... I've always like entering competitions now and again but always hated the spam that comes with it.

I've read that getting a separate email for it and potentially a sim card will help but is that really necessary??

The one I'm most concerned about though is the spam mail. Do most competitions require your address?? I've been a postie in the past and know first hand how much spam mail people can get and I really don't want it.

Kind regards.

It's very little effort to set up a free e-mail address and if nothing else I would always do that.
I have had no "spam" calls as a result of entering competitions so for me it just makes it easy to tell what the call is likely to relate to.
Many competitions do not require a postal address (until you win) and you can simply choose not to enter those that do if you are concerned - I have never had "spam" post and only 1 company sends me the occasional mail shot and I consented to that.

Of course what you may or may not get by way of "spam" depends very much on who is running the competition, I tend to stick with reputable companies and if in doubt use an e-mail address that I have for those I am not sure of and don't give them a postal address or telephone number.

Like mjm said above, I'd highly recommend getting a second email address for it. I signed up for a gmail address and it took me literally less than 5 minutes to get it ready for use.
