Very nice! I think my daughter has bought this paper for her downstairs lol/ cloakroom. I'm going to show her this , she may have some left and has some old furniture that needs a facelift.
Do the edges of the paper wrap around the drawer front to the inside, or are they cut exactly to size and pasted on?

  • I have a mattress cover on my mattress which is really meant for a deeper mattress, however, its supposed to make my mattress much cooler to sleep on. Unfortunately it shifts and creates huge rucks. I have recently repurposed two pairs of my father's braces (which he was throwing out) to pull the cover into position - and keep it there!

You have to be quite mindful as you do it and make sure you face everything the correct way!!

I drew round the drawer cut then out leaving a 1mm edge if that makes sense.

I pasted the drawer front with PVA glue and the pulled the wallpaper up the front to align with the top of the drawer.

I cut and then pasted a drawer front at a time and smoothed out the bubbles etc as I went along. I was very careful to be accurate with the tops and bottoms of the drawers but less worried about the edges.

Once all the drawers were pasted and DRY I carefully trimmed the sides of each one with a sharp stanley knife - as you pull the drawers in and out you can hear/feel where the drags is.

When closed up the pattern flows ok and it is a forgiving pattern for a few gaps.

I put massive velvet pillows in jewel colours on the bed and it looks ace.

Ok I think I understand! So when you've trimmed the drawers there is only a two millimetre gap in the pattern.

Yep!! Maximum 2mm gap if you can get the top of the second drawer on squarely it reduces the gap (if that makes sense).

You can lightly sand the edges too when it's dry for a seamless look

Can anyone advise on the best paint to use on furniture.
I'm thinking of giving a dark brown wood table -that is destined for a dark hall with wood panelled walls- a facelift.
The paint would need to be quite durable and not easily marked because we tend to dump keys on the hall table, vases of flowers, driving spectacles, post etc.!
I don't think that Annie Sloan chalk paint is tough enough.

You could paint with the chalk paint and then put a piece of glass in the top to protect it if you like.

    Good call!
We have been looking at doing a hand painted marble effect as that is the dream table, just out of our budget.glass might lend the appearance of the real thing at a casual glance .

My kitchen worktop, installed by the builder, is the most rubbish worktop ever, and stained so easily, and could not get the stains out. I bought some marble effect stick on vinyl from Amazon and it has fooled people into thinking it's the real thing. So might be worth a thought for a table.
