Just cannot make up my mind. The big Dyson has to go.......its far too heavy and cumbersome, have looked at the shark IF200UK at £249 or the Gtech AirRam MK2 at the same price.
I already have a hand held Dyson which is still in good condition although it does not have the extension pipes to do the ceiling etc, but the cleaner uses a nylon 'ken dodd' to do them.

I have a cleaning business and I like the cordless shark,it has lift away so it’s easier to clean stairs and has various attachments, one of my cleaning job has the Gtech and I feel it’s more for a quick run around the house.
The sharks feel well made and sturdy. Maybe if you went in store to try them,it might help you make your mind up.0 -

I've got two Gtech AirRams at my own home and love them. The new lightweight one looks interesting as it uses bags and so is much lighter. https://www.gtech.co.uk/cordless-vacuum-cleaners.html I'm considering getting one for DM's place as dragging the cylinder one here is a pain for my back.0 -
Neither. Shark are poorly built, GTech will not honour the warranties on machines purchased from many mainstream sites unless they're 'official dealers'. Look at the Bosch Athlet and the Dyson V7 or V8. The V10 and V11 are still too pricey.
As long as it has the electrical connectors on the cyclone bin, your existing handheld can be converted to a full-length version just by adding a 3rd party wand, just make sure you buy the one for the right version. It'll probably need a new battery too. Both parts are plentiful on eBay or Amazon. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I had a GTech - fine for a quick whizz round before the in-laws arrive, but no good for 'real' vacuuming. It only picks up on the forward stroke, doesn't get into corners, and doesn't reach into the cracks in solid wood flooring.
The battery on ours died, and it was going to cost £70 for a new one (out of warrenty, of course) - haven't bothered to replace it.
On solid flooring a sweeping brush is quicker, more efficient, and better for the environment...No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
GTech is also very noisy! Tried my daughter's Shark and found it run away with me! I've got an old Dyson ball which I find too heavy but DH is happy to run that round from time to time.
So personally I wouldn't go for either.
