in Cutting tax
Bit of a complicated one here in afraid.
Currently living in Thailand and employed there paying social security.
I'm a UK citizen. If I continued my job but came to the UK and did some consultancy work for a month or two, how would the tax work?
Could I set up as self employed in the UK even though I am not ordinarily resident and invoice in the UK and get paid in the UK and then pay tax as a some trader in the UK?
Looked through the government websites but there isn't a similar situation example.
Thanks in advance.

what do you not understand about the number of days in the UK and your place of residence which makes you tax resident?

In this instance my understanding is that would be classified as being non-resident UK but paying tax on UK income earned in the UK (as per the link you kindly provided)
Am I missing something? I didn't for one minute suggest I was UK residentTitch

yes, you answered your own question in your first post. What is it you actually want to know?In this instance my understanding is that would be classified as being non-resident UK but paying tax on UK income earned in the UK (as per the link you kindly provided)
you will be taxed in the UK on UK earnings. As a (non resident) UK citizen you will get your (income tax) UK personal allowance against that liability
what you should probably be asking is - is there a tax treaty that covers who taxes what income in which country and who get a tax credit against tax paid in the country you not resident in ?
to which the answer is yes, there is one for Thailand, please read this (esp. Article 8):
