Missing NI Contributions

My wife was working in the UK and then we moved abroad. I have been working and she has been taking care of our kids.
I have looked into paying missing NICs and it appears that as she hasn't worked since leaving the UK, she would not be able to pay class 2 contributions and would therefore gave to pay the higher class 3 ones.
I was wondering if she did now get a job would she be entitled to pay class 2 contributions going forward (not for the previous years referred to above which would I assume classify as class3.
Thanks in advance

Are you claiming / entitled to child benefit?
Is so this gives you state pension / NI credits.
So your wife as the current non earner should be the claimant.0 -

Thanks for your response.
We are both living abroad outside the EEA (Thailand) and I'm not paying any NICs either. As we are abroad we aren't entitled to any child benefit as far as I'm aware. I understand why you asked this as then her NICs would be credited but this isn't the case or possible in situation above.
Grateful for further guidance.Titch0 -

I think she'll need to contact HMRC to check if she's eligible to make voluntary contributions (as per the final section of this link)
https://www.gov.uk/national-insurance-if-you-go-abroad
The NI38 form contains details on the requirements for eligibility

She seems to fit the criteria (worked and lived in UK for 3 years plus before moving abroad) but it doesn't say if you need to be immediately employed when you move abroad or its ok if you get a job later so a little ambiguous.Titch0
