The red x on posts...

Hello! I'm new to the comp forum and I've noticed a red x on the posts. Do you click to say you've entered, or to no see it again, or something more devious? Don't want to be pressing things I shouldn't! Thanks!

You can use the green tick to show you've entered and click the thanks button too. The red cross to show you're not entering or not interested. They're just for you to keep track of where you're up to.

This post here is packed with all the info you might need starting out on the forum! Good luck!

Many thanks to everyone who posts competitions and works so hard to provide all the answers!

You could in theory use it for whatever you want. Personally, I use the green tick as a reminder to myself that I have entered a competition and I use the red cross as a reminder to myself that I have looked at the competition and decided that for whatever reason I don't want to enter it. This stops me looking at the same competition repeatedly only to find out for example that it is for a holiday I would be unable to take.

Once I have put a green tick or red cross next to a competition, I never look at it again, even it has been bumped with new posts.

    Good luck.

Perfect! Thanks for the quick responses. I did try and look for the answer but looked in the wrong place! Good to know I haven't done damage pressing them!
  • I have been on here about 4 years and never seen a green tick option so I have always used the red cross to mark the ones I've entered!

When you have opened the first post in a comp thread the green tick should show beside the red cross - the red cross is also available to mark off from the index so you don't have to bother opening a thread to red cross it - obviously to use the green tick that has to be done on a post but if it has been used then it shows as ticked on the index.

Thanks Mjm - I have seen it now!!!

I think I will keep using my red cross method though as I am used to that after all this time and it is visible on the index straight away!

It's good to know though as I had often wondered about the mythical green tick!!

I also use both the tick and cross if there is something i want to go back to eg one that has a daily entry.
