    Honestly, don't waste any more time talking to customer service. You will just keep going around in circles. They can't just send you a letter saying they made a mistake and then refuse to answer your questions in any useful way.

    Like mihandis said above, make a formal complaint and tell them that you will take the complaint to the Ombudsman. That will get them moving.

    It does rather feel like you are wasting your time. If you want to try one last thing before making a complaint... given you are pretty much wasting your time there too, you are within your rights to ask for a settlement figure - which they need to provide in writing upon request. This should give you the information you need. There is no obligation on you to settle, obviously.
