  • The problem is if they are somewhat unscrupulous they have little to lose. Unless they validly dismiss you they have to pay notice plus statutory redundancy. Sadly, if they sack you on a pretext there is a chance they will get away with it.

    I suspect if that happens and you fight they will settle, taking the view "oh well, it was worth a punt"!

    Sorry, it stinks and I sympathise!


    Sometimes companies, even very large ones, trip themselves up by not following their own procedures but if they do want to dismiss the OP they might not manage this time but they will find a next time and a way.
    Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid

    To the OP you have my sympathies as well. Get a copy of the sickness & absence policy/procedures and go through it line by line.


    I agree with others you need to fight this at the very least make your employer do some hard work to get you out the door without paying redundancy.
