Freezing a court case

The Halifax have really worked it up me this last 12 months due to my having briefly gone overdrawn. You know the picture. What really gets to me is that I actually had to get cash out on THEIR credit card to get myself ahead again.
Anyway, I am attempting to get all the charges back and, needless to say, they have put my request on hold while the test cases go through the courts. Meanwhile, I have a £246 overdraught with them that I am loath to pay. Why should I? I wrote to Halifax saying that I would write my claim against them off if they would write my overdraught off. All that I got for my troubles was a letter from a debt collection agency who are now demanding £20 a month off me and with Christmas coming and a strike coming up where I work I am not a happy bunny.
My question is this: since they are holding onto my money pending the outcome of the bank charges test cases, could I ask a county court to do the same with my debt to them and would they be likely to say yes?
Brian.

No you will lose.
There is no guarantee that the court case will go your way.
I think you have to agree a repayment plan with them now before it gets to CCJ stage.
They have asked for £20 pm but if you cannot afford that tell them - make a statement of affairs showing what money you have got coming in and where it goes.
Agree a repayment plan - stick to it and if next year the court decides in your favour then claim it back plus interest.0
