Didn't you bother to mention to the new employer that you had to give 3 months notice? Why not?

Many "professional" jobs now have a 3 month notice period (or more if you are higher up).

Surely you were asked what your notice period was in the interview?

A decent employer that wanted you would happily wait for the end of your notice period.

A decent employer would also let you leave before your 3 month notice period providing there was sufficient time to hand over any projects etc...

Your current employer is not willing to negotiate, so you need to explain this to your new employer.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

    I would not walk out.

Have you any leave you can take in lieu of notice? Or maybe your new employer can change the starting date if you explain the situation?

Someone's mentioned this before, do you have any holiday left? You can use that in some of your notice period.
You can ASK to use up any untaken holiday, but the employer doesn't have to agree (and the OP says they don't have any left anyway).

Just to add another element, as well as the risk of losing the new job, you could also be sued for any costs associated with covering your role (for the period lost) - for instance if they have to bring in agency staff at a higher rate to cover your workload.

A lot of people complain about 3 month notice period and how unfair it is, but the time to complain is before accepting a job that has that period!

3 months is a horrendous notice period. What kind of job is it? Most jobs usually want people to start within a month or two at most.
    .

This is very dependent on the type of work. In professional roles, particualrly those dealing dirctly with clients, it is very common. In my industry it is absolutely standard, to the estent that if we had a candidate who said they were available art shorter notice we would ask firther questions about why, as it it unusual enough to be a potential red flag.

Where I work, all 'professional' (as oppsoed to support staff, I'm not sure how else to phrase it!) have notice periods of 3 months, or 6 for the higher level people .
