O/S Daily Thursday 18 July 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Cloudy, dull and raining steadily, wet underfoot and lots of laying water - rain is forecast to stop at some point this morning - we'll see. Hoping it will freshen the air up a bit, as it was very warm and humid yesterday.

DH and DS1 now getting ready for work, I'm showered and dressed, now enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and ok.

Dinner last night was pie, chips and beans for the menfolk, I had omelette and salad. Not sure about tonight but will organise something. I have to visit town this morning so will do that then. I need to do some ironing too.

Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks and thanks nmlc. Yet another sunny start and the rain they said "might" materialise last evening didn't! None forecast for today either. Typical the summer I decide to go on a water meter and plants need watering desperately!

Lovely day out yesterday. Apart from lunch, the only other spending I did was £1 on a book that jumped into my hands. That's now sitting in the bookcase with all the other unread books too tempting to resist!

Shopping day today. Back to Aldi I think. This afternoon a bit of tidying outside beckons.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them, plus the MIA. Take care all xx

    Morning all

Its pouring with rain here meant to stop by lunch time but then back for the next two days with thunder storms Saturday, lets hope it clears the air a bit.

I posted the crustless quiche recipe on yesterdays thread if anyone wants it. Tonight I will cook 'Dirty rice' from the book but use chicken instead of mince, another low calorie meal.

Off to work today and we have one extra today as we have one coming from another group today, last time this happened two chaps nearly came to blows so it should be an interesting day !

Right I had better get on have good days all xx

    Good morning all

Thank you for starting us off nmlc

Still hot here, forecast for rain later this morning.

Not doing much, will have to buy some salad but that's about as exciting as my day gets.

Hope our missing friends are ok,

Morning all, it has just stopped raining, it was much-needed.

Today I need to go to the dentist for a checkup, plus see the hygienist. Am hoping that he won't discover any problems.

Other than that, nothing of massive interest to report.

Thinking about those who are struggling and of our MIA.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Morning folks-another humid day here, not as nice as a hot one!

Today will be tiring, I can tell. DM wants a shower in about 10 mins, always exhausting for me as there is a lot to set up, dry out and take away again and usually involves at least four towels. Then the cleaner is coming so I will nip out to get some cakes for the two visitors this afternoon. Visitors keep me busy as DM likes things in a particular way.

Yesterday I took my car to a wee local bodyshop as I scratched it against a steel stanchion. :( It's not big or expensive job so that will get done on Tuesday. I was reverse parking and some stupid 'person' drove almost up to my bonnet glaring at me for holding her up - I had a mini-panic and forgot to look at my reversing camera. Bum bum bum bum bum. Next time I won't be so intimidated.

Right, off to face the steam and the palaver.

Thoughts to the missing, poorly and struggling. Happy Thursday to all.

Gers, sorry about the car, someone rear ended Laura a few days ago. She stopped for a zebra crossing and a woman went into the back of her.

Yesterday's appointment went very well. Almost everything is back to normal, there is just one little lymph node that is still 2mm bigger than it should be. That stops them calling it a complete remission but it's as near as. Now to the maintenance phase where the medication apparently extends the period before the cancer returns. We just have to get on with life now, there's plenty to look forward to.

Steve is trying to get the Open golf on TV and having problems - we had hoped to go over there but didn't know if Steve would be fit to go.

This was entirely my fault - first time for everything. I hope that Laura is OK after the shunt.

    Now that's brilliant news snoozer.

Shower done, only three towels this time. Unfortunately the weekly weigh-in shows that DM is down to 7st 3lb despite the much more hefty amounts she's eating. Mind you, she left me speechless when she annouced 'I think I need to drink more'. She's only been told by the GP, the consultants, umpteen nurses, the physio, the dietitian, the neighbours and, mostly, me to drink more since last year. :rotfl: It took a long while for the penny to drop.

    Morning all,
Very gloomy here,I think it must have rained a bit in the night.DGS has been dropped off at school,it's the last day we'll drop him off in Reception so he made a card for his teacher but he went to bed early last night, he was shattered.I got down this morning and he'd already coloured a pink heart and cut it out, just needed finishing touches. This year seems to have gone so fast
I popped to town yesterday morning and bought a Colin the Caterpillar birthday cake and some new bunting for DS birthday tea. Apparently his mates were talking about what cakes they had for birthdays when they were younger as one of them had posted a pic of a very elaborate football shirt cake they'd had made for their son, another said I only ever had a caterpillar cake. I always made the cakes for our 2 so thought I'd buy this as a bit of a joke. The DGC loved it and there wasn't a scrap left :)
I need a good tidy up ,(glitter was involved for the card ) so I think I'll stop in today.
TA,2 books slipped into my bag from the CS yesterday too.One was a pristine copy of Paul Hollywoods Bread which I'm pleased with :)

Sorry about you car Gers, drivers can be so bad tempered these days!
Snoozer, glad to hear the good news about Steve, hope you get the golf on ! Hope Laura didn't suffer any ill effects after the bump.
Hope the MIA are ok,I know I'm not good at posting every day but it's been a while now for some xx

Laura was fine, thanks for asking. We were a bit worried about her neck because of the horrendous problems she had a couple of years ago but it seems to be ok. It was the classic, Laura emerged from her road and stopped at the crossing a few yards down from the junction, the woman followed her out and must have been looking right to see there was nothing coming and so didn't realise Laura had stopped.
