Is buying in bulk cheaper?

As a single household I do not buy that much so do not buy in big bulk but if 2 for 1 etc I buy extra and use 4pt milk bottles (washed and dried of course) to store in pantry. Also buy big bag of dried chickpeas and then cook up a load in SC and freeze in portion sizes, cheaper than even cheap tins, only defrost amount needed and fewer tins in pantry.0
