O/S Daily Tuesday 16 July 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH and DS1 now getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying a peaceful cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.

Sunny bright start to the day here, but rain forecast for later, and then the coming few days.

Dinner last night was braised pork steaks, mash, carrots, brocolli, peas and gravy, ice cream for dessert. I remembered to get the sausages out to defrost overnight so tonight we'll be having egg, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, and beans.

Yesterday I got done some of what I wanted, today I'll be heading into town quite early so I can get a job done, other than that I'll be at home I want to get the ironing done and some housework, I'll also change DS2's bed and get that bedding washed - forecast doesn't look so good from tomorrow so want all the washing done up to date.

Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC for starting us off.

Another glorious start and it feels really warm already. There seems to be a pattern emerging with my sleep! Another good night last night so currently it's one good followed by a bad!

Now my oldest buddie is home from her travels we are back to the Tuesday routine again today. Two coffees, much talking and then lunch. The coffee shop was closed for a couple of days for a makeover in our absence - I shall cry if the menu has had a makeover too and my Cheesy Broccoli Bake is no longer available!

It'll be another afternoon of sitting out in the sunshine with my book when I get home. The jobs can wait until the weather breaks at the end of the week!

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all the poorlies, carers, sad, worried or lonely. And of course our absent friends. HH, OL and NELS if you are reading along we are missing you. Hope all is as well as it can be for you. Take care all xx

    Good morning all,

It's quite dull here after a beautiful day yesterday, the forecast was for more sun today but with a bit more cloud.DH and DS2 decided to go to work early this morning as they were working outside in full sun yesterday and it got very uncomfortable.DH's back is playing up due to the heavy lifting involved in this current job ,he came home early and made an appointment to see someone today.
Ly1a was walked early, she soon starts panting when it's warm like this being such a large dog, she's snoozing again on the cool kitchen floor. I am meeting my oldest friend for lunch. She's very good as she never minds driving about 40 mins to get here from further North Lancs and always picks me up.

I got compliments for the tea I made last night, unusual, usually someone complains (generally DH )! I got some salt/pepper chicken breasts from the butcher & chopped them small, added peppers & onions, stir fried then added noodles and a bit of sweet chilli sauce, job done & so quick, wish it was like that every night :)
RR- that's good to know,my friend has also tried that recipe and said it was lovely,I'll have to look that one up :)

Bit of tidying due before my friend gets here later, but a coffee first I think.Hope you have the best day you can, and hope the MIA are ok xx

    Morning everyone.

Dull and humid here, a bad combination, let's hope the sun can break through.

The district nurse is coming sometime this morning so I'm all ready, DM woken up and probably asleep again. I can't imagine that the nurse will be here early as the team do the diabetic folk first and then the others who need meds before going for blood.

Once the nurse has been and gone I'll get myself out somewhere. I want to make the Mary Berry Mexican lasagne to tempt DM - she is eating more than a couple of weeks ago so something really savoury should be good for her.

I've been riveted watching all the programmes about the Moon landing, it's fascinating what those atrosnauts achieved on what is now thought of a ball of string and a packet of chewing gum!

Thoughts are with the missing, the poorly and the sad. Happy Tuesday to everyone.

Afternoon! Lazy day this morning, just sitting round playing games. OH is off out in a minute. I potted on some stuff yesterday for sticking in the big black trap, hpefully they'll be ok over the next few days with a big lot fo water in there so they don't dry out. Will also have to water the greenhouse tomorrow morning so it will last. Tomatoes popping up all over the place.
I am a bit rubbish at the moment about doing things at home, mostly I think, down to the why bother syndrome, because I won't be here again until Friday night or Saturday morning..
I have bags to pack today, the lawn to mow, I am also waiting for a couple of parcels thanks to one day delivery...

TA, hope they haven't changed the menu! Gers, good to hear your mother is eating better! redruby, quite a few people have said that about that chicken, that's my next book purchase..RR, yes, another chorus for the chicken :)
Hope everyone who is not posting is good..

Afternoon all. The carpet fitters came eatly yesterday. Just as well as it took ages to put the house to rights again. The dining room looks lovely and we would like to have the same carpet in rhe sitting room.

We are having scaffolding put up tomorrow ready for our new roof. It will be done Saturday and Sunday or earlier of it looks like rain.

Gers glad Mum is eating a bit more. If anyone can post that garlic chicken recipe.......sounds yummy.

Weii I will love you and leave you. Hugs and spoons all round.

    Hello all
We have been to the DGS sports day. It was boiling hot in the sun ( 24/25 c degrees ) with hardly any shade. All the children did their best and were dripping, bless them. Mr Fix It and I are wrung out from the heat and just watching all that energy . Now we have to do that all over again tomorrow for the DGD, but I hope it will be a bit more cloudy as even I was wilting towards the end.
I have sorted out both my freezers and they are emptying nicely, as I want to defrost them over the weekend.
Tea tonight will be cheese and potato pie with sausages. Banana and ice cream for pudding.
Take care and hugs all round
    nan xx
