Sky vs Play TV - Is this legitimate at half the price?

I got a phone call from a sales person offering me a service called Play TV which they say will give me virtually the same channels as Sky TV but at half the cost. This is supposed to run via your internet conection rather than satelite. Apparently you also get a box (like the sky box) which has a back up on it in case you lose your net connection at any time. I was not sure about this so decided to ask here.

Play TV is also stating Pre-Launch which also bothered me as it may not yet have been tested out to know it works properly.

Has anyone else heard of this?
Are they legitimate?
Would you switch?
