Threatening Solicitors letters

Options
First of all I want to say I do not live in the U.K and I have not done so for 4 years.

I have loan with Yorkshire bank which I stopped making payments around 6 months ago as I was not able to pay anything as I only had enough to survive on. I tried contacting them numerous times by phone but was passed from one department to another by their call centre and eventually I give up as it was costing me a fortune as I was phoning from overseas. I then received letters first from the bank to tell me I had to pay the money I owed and in the letter I was told I could email them with the email address provided. I emailed them 3 times with no reply and I still kept on getting letters.

I am now receiving threatening letters from Yorkshire Banks solicitors threathening to commence legal proceedings. I have emailed the solicitor to tell them I am now in a postion where I can pay off my loan if they can tell me what my early payment settlement would be and how I can go about paying it but even they have failed to reply to my emails.

What can I do next? I am getting no luck with the bank as they are either complete idiots or do not care and just keep passing me to wrong departments.

Because of the loan coming out of my Yorkshire bank account I have built up nearly 200 pounds in bank charges only which they are also sending me threathening letters for.

I am trying to transfer money as well but I only have my bank account number and not my sort code. Does anyone know how I find a sort code for Yorkshire bank, I have tried google searching but have not come up with the sort code.

Thanks

  • Can you tell me which branch? There are dozens of sort codes:confused:

If you have your statement to hand look for two numbers

    1 An IBAN number
    2 A Swift code

The sort code and your account number are contained in these numbers

  • HI

I would try the banking ombudsman, show them your record of emails and how you have tried to settle with them to pay off the loan.

They can not ignore the ombudsman and they will act on your behalf free of charge.

    Kind Regards
