Previous employer not paying in my contribution

Options
Hi all,

I was checking my pensions and noticed that for a pension I have with a previous employer, only contributions that they made are part of the pension - but on more recent jobs I can see the employer contribution, my contribution as we all as tax relief.

Does this mean that my old employer owes me pension? As far as I'm aware it wasn't going into my payslip or anywhere else.

Thanks.

    Was it "non contributory"?

    Was it "salary sacrifice"?

The consequences of not paying in to someones pensions are fines upto £10,000 a day.

Unless your contributions are remotely close to that (£300,000 per month) work on the basis that you dont have the right information to determine whether its being paid or not.

    Speak to your old employer.
    Speak to the pension provider.

Then all contributions are deemed to be employer contributions.
  • Salary sacrifice means you weren't contributing to a pension.

You agreed to have a lower salary in return for your employer contributing extra to the pension for you. There is no pension tax relief for you, the employee, on employer contributions.
