Final bonuses acrrue daily. So, they are easily seen. And everyone will be different. Final bonuses haven't worked the way you seem to think for 30 or so years. You may have one from that era but without information, you are not going to get any useful info.

Not very lately but about 5 years ago. We had 2 of these and both times found them very efficient and we had no nasty surprises with final bonus. No unexpected MVR at last minute.

As I say it was a while ago...

Not sure what you mean by "cashing in" (usually not a good idea and I could not "cash in" my with profits pension), but I transferred a Standard Life with profits pension to my SIPP about 3 years ago. I got the full final bonus with no MVR.

However, SL would not tell me for sure what the actual final transfer value would be. So I got my SIPP provider to request a transfer which meant SL gave them the value that would actually be transferred. My SIPP provider made sure I was informed of the actual transfer value before they actioned it so that I could decide not to go ahead if I didn't want to (eg in case a big MVR was applied). However, I got the full transfer value.

In this case my SIPP provider (Hargreaves Lansdown) was very helpful. But then they aren't cheap.....
